Decorating differently: how to make a pumpkin wreath
With temperatures dropping and golden leaves falling around us, there's no doubt that we're fully in autumn's colourful grasp.
Whilst some might already be thinking ahead to fairy lights and Christmas trees, there's still plenty of time to enjoy the beauty of this stunning season. Last year we looked at how to make an autumn flower crown as well as how to make an autumn wreath, but this year we're bringing the beauty indoors with a pumpkin wreath!
A pumpkin wreath is very simple to make, requiring only four items: a pumpkin, dried flowers, an elastic band, and scissors.
Here's a how to make a lovely autumnal pumpkin wreath, step by step:
Gather your dried flowers, and cut the stems to just below the height of the pumpkin. If you don’t have dried flowers, you can either make them yourself with our handy guide, or buy them directly from Bunches!
Place the elastic band around the pumpkin so that it fits around the middle, but is loose enough to stretch slightly without snapping. We used a munchkin pumpkin, but you can use whatever type you like as long as you have a band that fits around it! You could also use twine or string, if you don't have an elastic band that's big enough.
Gently place the cut dried flowers around the pumpkin in whatever pattern you choose! We used the Carnations from our Autumn Warmth arrangement, but most dried flowers will look lovely. The elastic band may slip down the pumpkin, so once a few flowers have been placed within it, you may wat to use some cellotape to keep it in place.
Voilà! You have a pretty autumn pumpkin wreath ready to display in your home!
