World Chocolate Day 2025
Every year on 7th July, people across the world celebrate one of humanity’s most delicious creations: chocolate!
According to the National Day Calendar, “chocolate comes from the seed of the tropical Theobroma cacao tree. Cacao has been cultivated for at least three millennia and grows in Mexico, Central America, and Northern South America.”
The earliest known documentation of using cacao seeds is from around 1100 BC, according to the Museum of Hot Chocolate.
The first World Chocolate Day was celebrated in 2009; the date of the 7th July was chosen as this was the date that chocolate was introduced to Europe in 1550. Although it had already been around for centuries in other countries, the lack of specific date meant that 7th July became the dedicated day to celebrate chocolate.
It’s unclear who started World Chocolate Day, but here at Bunches we’re very happy to celebrate it!
