Looking after your Peonies
Peony season is finally here, and we couldn’t be more thrilled! Here at Bunches, we look forward to seeing these pretty blossoms every year.
According to the RHS, Peonies are “aristocratic plants with a brief but keenly anticipated flowering in late spring to early summer.”
However, we know that these lovely flowers can take a bit of encouraging to come out. We send your Peonies still in bud to protect them on their journey and so that you can love them for longer, but to help them fully bloom, here are some top tips:
Wash the sap gently off your Peonies’ buds with lukewarm water
Pluck any leaves that will be below water level off the stems
Tap your Peonies’ buds carefully and massage the base of the buds loosely - this will help them open
Refresh the water regularly, as Peonies drink a lot
When they open, Peonies are wonderful in arrangements; watch how we put together a Peony Grace below, and see just how lovely they look!
