Grief Awareness Week 2025

The start of December can be a peculiar time. Whilst for many it brings festive joy and Christmas spirit, for others it can be the beginning of one of the hardest months of the year.

The 2nd - 8th December was Grief Awareness Week, which raises awareness of grief and normalises conversations around it.

Everyone grieves differently, but it's important to show that you are there for someone during a loss. Have a look at the image below for some ways to look after someone going through a bereavement.

Our Director, Dani Turner, was also interviewed by various media to talk about the role flowers can play in the process of grieving. You can listen to her interview on Prince Bishop's Hospital Radio.

Our Head of Marketing, Dan, also commemorated the week by sharing his own experience of grief this year, and how he found solace in flowers:

"When my grandmother passed away this year, I discovered the profound comfort flowers can bring. Her favourite flowers were roses, and gladioli were in season at the time. Being surrounded by these specific blooms didn't just honour her memory - they created a space for healing and reflection.

"During Grief Awareness Week, I want to remind others that flowers can be more than a gesture; they can be a source of solace, and a beautiful way to keep our loved ones close, even after they've gone."
