Decorating differently: how to display your flowers with a twist!

Strawberries and cream, bread and butter, tea and biscuits; some things are a natural pairing. One of these harmonious duets are flowers and vases, which complement each other perfectly to brighten any room.

Sometimes however, mixing it up a bit can create some beautiful results. Whether you don’t have space for a vase or it’s simply not your style, we look at some different ways to display your blooms below!

Beautiful baskets and bags

Wicker and flowers are a gorgeous combination, creating a stunning rustic display. Wicker baskets or bags can be used in place of wreath on a door, as they can withstand winds and weather.

Make sure that you pop some water in a ziplock bag and place the stems in it, sealing it as tightly as possible, to keep them fresh for as long as possible. Alternatively, you can use dried flowers to skip this step!

Terrific totes

These days, we all have a tote or two (or three, or four…) sitting in a cupboard while our favourite gets taken out to the shops. But many of these are memories of meaningful moments, so why not line one of your totes with an old plastic bag (without holes!), put some water in the bottom, and hang it up with some pretty flowers to make a living piece of art!

Unbeatable umbrellas

Rain is a staple of British weather, but without it, the beauty of nature wouldn’t flourish. Why not celebrate this by using an umbrella to hold your bouquet? Hanging it on your door in place of a wreath will brighten up even the greyest of skies and make the entrance to your home look absolutely stunning. Use a ziplock bag with water in it to keep your flowers fresher for longer.

Wonderful wellies

Similar to umbrellas, if you have an old (but clean!) pair of wellies that you don’t need to wear, arrange some flowers in the boots and hang them on the door. Line them with a plastic bag (with no holes in) filled with a bit of water so your flowers thrive, and enjoy this quirky decoration!
