Birthstones & blooms: what are yours?
Birthdays are opportunities to celebrate the ones you love, and here at Bunches we believe that flowers are the perfect way to do that. You may be aware that each month has its own gemstone, but did you know that there are also unique flowers dedicated to every month?
If you want to tailor your gift to match a particular month, we’re here to help! Below we have a look at each month’s birth stone and blooms so that you can make your gift as personal as possible.
January
January’s birthstone is the Garnet, which represents happiness and friendship.
January has two birth flowers: Carnations, which mean strong and pure love, and Snowdrops, which symbolise sympathy and celebration.

February
Amethyst is February’s birthstone, which stands for peace and stability
February also has two birth flowers. The first is Violets, a symbol of modesty, faithfulness, everlasting love, innocence, and remembrance. Primroses, symbolising eternal love, are the second.

March
March's birthstone is Aquamarine. This beautiful blue gem means courage, loyalty, and friendship.
Only one flower represents March: the delightful Daffodil, which represents rebirth and new beginnings.

April
Diamonds are more than just a girl’s best friend; they represent everlasting love, courage, strength, and energy, and are the birthstone for April.
April’s birth flowers are equally gorgeous (but a bit less expensive!) Daisies, which mean innocence, purity, and true love, and Sweet Peas, symbolising blissful pleasure, good wishes, kindness, gratitude, and friendship, are April’s blooms.

May
May's birthstone has multiple meanings. The Emerald represents youth, vitality and rebirth, but is also linked to wisdom and patience.
The birth flowers of May are equally beautiful. Lily of the Valley means humility and purity, as well as a return to happiness, while Hawthorn stands for hope.

June
The birthstone for June is the Pearl, which symbolises innocence, purity, and faithfulness.
June’s birth flowers are the Rose, which is well-known to mean love, and Honeysuckle, which represents happiness and affection for a new love.

July
Rubies are July's birthstone. Like June’s rose, this burning red gem means love and passion.
July’s birth flowers are gorgeous summer blooms. Delphiniums represent positivity, loving bonds, dedication, and sincerity, whilst Water Lilies are symbolic of purity, innocence, and chastity.

August
Peridots represent prosperity, power, and good fortune, and is the birthstone for August.
Alongside this green gem are August’s birth flowers: Poppies, which are well-known symbols of remembrance and peace, and Gladioli, which mean strength, victory, healing, and honour.

September
September's birthstone is the Sapphire, which stands for loyalty and integrity.
Matching the brilliant blue of this gemstone, September’s birth flowers are Asters, which mean powerful love, elegance, patience and remembrance, and Morning Glory, representing love that was never returned or undying love.

October
The iridescent Opal is October’s birthstone, which is symbolic of hope and purity.
October’s birth flowers are Marigolds, which are associated with optimism and prosperity. October also has Cosmos as its secondary flower, which means order, harmony, and balance.
The multi-coloured opal can be represented by any arrangement in our floral collection.
November
November's birthstone is Topaz, representing faith and trust.
November is another month with only one birth flower, but it’s certainly a classic! Chrysanthemums originally mean cheerfulness under adversity, but have grown to also symbolise loyalty, friendship, and joy.

December
The final of the twelve birthstones is December's. Last but never least, Tanzanite symbolises strength, peace, and power.
December’s birth flowers are Paperwhites, which mean pure or unconditional love, and Holly, representing fertility and foresight according to Flowers and Their Meanings.
