Spray CarnationsSpray carnation’s botanical name is Dianthus and means ‘devine flower’ or ‘flower of God’. They are available all year round and are the UK’s best selling cut flower. Unlike the standard carnation, with just one flower per stem, “Sprays” as the name indicates consist of many smaller flowers. These carnations can last up to three weeks, but should be kept away from ripening fruit and vegetables because of ethylene gas. They generally symbolise ‘Woman’s Love’, although each colour can represent a variation on this such as pink represents ‘Mother’s Love’.
