Florverde

Florverde Logo The Colombian farms that grow our carnations are part of a voluntary code of conduct called Florverde. Florverde, Spanish for green flowers, was set up 10 years ago by the Colombian Flower Growers Trade Association. This unique programme aims to improve Colombian workers' quality of life and to ensure Colombian growers meet specific environmental standards.

Environmentally Friendly

Our Carnations are grown on Colombian farms that use environmentally sustainable resources and are environmentally aware, reducing their water consumption, controlling their air emissions to protect the ozone layer, using organic fertilization methods and disposing of their waste using environmentally sound methods.

Socially Responsible

Reassuringly, none of our Colombian partners hires workers under the age of 18 and their workers are paid 20% more than the Colombian minimum wage. Each farm worker has access to on-site medical care, clean dining areas and hot meals. Creating and maintaining a safe working environment is of utmost importance, which is why comprehensive workplace training is provided for all those that work on the farms.
In addition, many farms are exceeding specified worker requirements through their commitment to Social Development. A variety of programmes have been put in place to improve the quality of life of flower workers and their families, such as providing childcare facilities, subsidised housing benefits, oral healthcare programmes and literacy campaigns.
The Florverde label is recognized worldwide as assurance that our flowers have been grown in compliance with social, environmental, labour and occupational health and safety standards. It represents a safe and sustainable floriculture allowing an abundant supply of beautiful Carnations that are available throughout the year.

Fair Flowers Fair Plants

Fair Flowers Logo Today, issues about the environment and being 'green' are creeping into daily conversations more and more. Can this be recycled? Is this environmentally friendly? What is my carbon footprint? It can be very confusing not knowing whether or not what you are buying is being kind to the environment.

Here at Bunches we want to do our bit to provide you with the flowers and plants that are environmentally friendly and socially responsible, this is why we are part of the Fair Flowers Fair Plants initiative.

The FFP organisation has been set up to monitor and check ethical standards throughout the flower production cycle, reducing the impact on the environment and providing good working conditions for those involved. A large number of parties including the flower industry, human rights interest groups and trade unions all support the FFP label.

So how does it work? To guarantee to you that our products have been ethically sourced, we work with producers and suppliers that are part of the FFP initiative too.
