Micro-enterprise projects in India (2007)

Working with our partner the DCI Trust, we provided village workers in remote parts of India with a range of gifts and sponsored families through a micro enterprise project. Micro enterprise projects are a bit like providing someone with a loan for something that they can then use to earn a living for themselves and their families and build a future. In this case we sponsored a sewing machine bank and bought 20 sewing machines for the villagers and their families to use. These sewing machines are the paid for by the families that use them in weekly interest free instalments. One sewing machine can lift a family out of poverty as the daily income they bring in will provide food, clothing, medicine and school fees for children ensuring a future for the familyWe supplied some families with bicycles and paraffin lamps. In a village without electricity a paraffin lamp is a treasured possession and having one of your own means that meetings, studies and work can take place in your house after nightfall. Many orphaned children in India live in what are called Mercy Homes. These Mercy Homes house up to 10 children with house parents who look after them. We provided these Christian children with their very own bible as a reward for learning to read.

Customer Feedback

I received an XL Blackberry Burst bouquet. They are absolutely gorgeous, my favourite, carnations (and the chocolates were delicious too but didn't last very long!). The flowers are still going strong 11 days later. Many thanks to my sister and niece for the flowers and many thanks to Bunches. The last time I ordered flowers from a well known high street store it was a complete disaster so in future I'll be using you guys! Still completely thrilled 11 days later!
