Etwall Well Dressing

Friday, 21st May 2010

Petals

2010 saw the 40th anniversary of the Etwall Well Dressing festival. There are 9 'Wells' dressed around the Derbyshire village, by various organisations including school children, brownies and guides with the event taking place on the 3rd weekend in May every year. The boards are made from clay and decorated using pretty much anything to give them texture and colour from seeds and popcorn to the more traditional use of flower petals.

Bunches helped out by donating flowers to be used on Brownie & Guide boards, below you can see some pics of one of the boards being made.

As previously reported Bunches is helping with the costs of building a health clinic in Mbuzi Mzumala in Malawi to help provide much needed healthcare locals in the town and surrounding area. As you can see in the photos below the project is progressing well with building work now well underway.

You can read about the Mbuzi Mzumala Clinic along with other Bunches charitable projects on our charity page.

The Pursuit of Happiness

Friday, 14th May 2010

Petals

As Bunches is in the business of creating smiles, we were interested in a 'happiness' survey recently conducted by a well known drinks manufacturer. The findings discovered that the greatest source of contentment for people across the world wasn't money, fame or power but simply staying in touch with friends and family.

Results showed that despite social networking, text messaging and the abundance of other digital media, human contact comes out top when it comes to being happy. The highlights of a person's day include catching up with loved ones, eating with the family and having a good chat with friends!

It's also good know that global happiness levels are high, with over two thirds of people declaring that they are satisfied with their lives. However, when we do need a bit of cheering up, over one in five will opt for a big hug!

If you can't be there to lift their spirits, why not surprise them with a lovely Bunches bouquet to brighten their day? Perfect!

Roses are... not always red!

Friday, 7th May 2010

Petals

Roses are indisputably one of the nation's favourite flowers, however all too often people think red is the only colour available! Thanks to feedback from our customers, we have launched an exciting new range of Roses in vibrant summery shades. So, if you fancy brightening someone's day with something a bit out of the ordinary, why not send a beautiful bouquet of orange or yellow Roses?

For all hopeless romantics who don't want to tear themselves away from the amorous associations of traditional red Roses... sending orange represents passion and desire, whilst yellow Roses are the perfect way to celebrate friendship!

Maternity Leave

Friday, 30th April 2010

Petals

Well today I break up for maternity leave, as our little girl is due on the 20th May. All the Bunches team have bets on her being named after a flower such as Poppy, Daisy, Lily, Blossom, Petal etc... well, all will be revealed in a few weeks! It's a very odd feeling, being MD of a business and going on maternity leave, I simply can't imagine not working, particularly as it's something I love doing... however I've been told by friends that babies keep you pretty busy! I'm due back to work in October but given that my Husband works here, I have many friends here and I only live down the road I'm not sure I'll keep away all that long! One thing I'm confident of is Bunches is being left in the hands of a very capable team who'll continue to ensure that we offer a wonderful service that creates many smiles across the UK.
